The main stimulus for the renewal of Christianity will come from the bottom and from the edge, from sectors of the Christian world that are on the margins.

As I've been working through The Forgotten Ways, by Alan Hirsch, this idea has been very eye opening.

The idea that ministering to the marginalized and those on the outskirts of our faith is what brings renewal and new life to those at the core. We've all known that the best way to get re:energized about the mission of God is to reengage the world and the least of these. But for some reason it has really stuck that we should be continually reaching and continually trying new ways to reach those outside our walls and our normal sphere.

New life for our personal lives and our communities comes from reaching and going to our edges - not just tending to those inside.
